Calling Literacy and numeracy specialists – we need you.

We need trained literacy and numeracy specialists to help us with the demand for our employer and workplace programmes.

We would like to hear from you if you have the following criteria:

  • Experience in tutoring literacy and numeracy.
  • A formal qualification in adult literacy education or study towards a qualification.
  • Experience in developing or adapting training materials.

We have fixed-term and part-time work to suit you.


Literacy services

If you have a skill or trade, you may want to consider helping some of the families we have that need skills and literacy support.

The ALLS survey - Adult Literacy and Language Survey - identfied that one in every five people in Aotearoa-New Zealand have low literacy skills.

We want to support the country to lift our literacy skills from level 1 and 2 to level 4 and above.

If you have excellent English language speaking and writing skills, and have the minimum literacy tutor qualifiction, we invite you to apply to be part of our dynamic team.

We offer training in the CALT - Certificate in Adult Literacy Tutoring - course, a level 5 local course accredited by Literacy Aotearoa Inc. Literacy Aotearoa also run the National Certificate in Adult Literacy Educator level 5, and other qualifications. Check them out on the Literacy Aotearoa website.

Budget Service and Financial Literacy

If you have excellent communication and financial skills, you could use these in a number of ways with the Budgeting and Financial Literacy services.

We offer training in the Budget Adivisor Introduction Course (BAIC), which is a local course accredited by the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services, and some Unit Standards which are accredited by Te Kaiāwhina Ahumahi - the Social Services Industry Training Organisation.
